Oyo Lawmaker, Seyi Adisa Commissions Afijio Sports Center

The lawmaker representing Afijio state constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Honorable Seyi Adisa, on Sunday, commissioned the Afijio sports center.

The sports center located in the heart of Aawe town in the Afijio local government area featured a basketball court, handball court, volleyball court, and a mini football pitch for the youths and sports development in the pacesetter state.

While commissioning the multi-million naira project, honorable Seyi Adisa said he embarked on the project as a rider to his Afijio Cup tournament played in 2019 and in a bid to promote athletes who participate in the competition annually.

Honorable Adisa, who noted that sport is a unifying factor among the youths, said the project will go a long way to give a boost to sports development in Oyo state.

The lawmaker, who harped that the project was completed with the support of partners across the globe especially sports lovers in Canada, appealed to well-meaning Nigerians to support the youths in the area of sports promotion.

In his remarks shortly after the commissioning, the Oyo state commissioner for youths and sports, Honorable Seun Fakorade, said the Afijio sports center will complement the efforts of the Oyo state government at raising the standard of sports and creating modern sports facilities for the youths to train with.

In a chat with newsmen at the venue of the event, the wife of the late former governor of Oyo State, Florence Ajimobi, commended honorable Adisa for the job well done and charged other politicians in the pacesetter to contribute their quota to the overall development of Oyo state.

Present at the commissioning of the Afijio sports center includes the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Diaspora, Hon. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe; the minority leader, Oyo state house of assembly, honorable Asimiyu Alarape, amongst other top government functionaries.
