Kosofe Const.2 Bye election: The odds in favour of Abiodun Akhigbe as Braimoh's replacement

The disqualification of Hon. Abiodun Akhigbe as member of the Lagos Audit Commision few months ago might turn out to be a blessing in disguise based on the available piece of information.



According to the Kosofe Post reliable source in the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kosofe, privy to the ongoing political developments in the last 9 days disclosed that Akhigbe has been picked as the consensus candidate to replace the late lawmaker Hon. Tunde Braimoh, who represented Kosofe Constituency 2 until his sudden death two Fridays ago.

Recall Abiodun was earlier renominated by Gov. Babajide Sanwoolu as member of the Audit Board Commision and the Lagos State House of Assembly under the chairmanship of Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, who disqualified him in a controversial manner. Akhigbe took the development in good faith according to his response to KP around May 2020 .

Beyond the Lagos State House of Assembly politics he was earlier reported as one of the potential aspirants tipped to succeed Tunde Braimoh after completing his 8 years despite the purported power rotation between Agboyi Ketu and Ikosi Isheri.

KP source further revealed that the late senator representing Lagos East, Adebayo Osinowo family, political family, associates, supporters, wellwishers and APC LGA Chairmen have thrown their weight behind the choice of Akhigbe.

The latest developments has shown that there will be another primary and the stakeholders controlling the party structure will determine the final flagbearer on the platform of APC for the bye elections including the vacant senatorial seat.
