The upper legislative House of the Nigerian National Assembly, the Senate has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to declare bandits in the country as terrorists. The Senate asked the president to treat bandits the way he would treat other terrorists.
President Muhammadu Buhari.
For some times now, marauding bandits have been carrying out their nefarious activities through out the country unchecked. Bandits have so far wrecked grievous havocs on People and communities, stealing, maiming and killing many.
Before now, an Islamic cleric, Sheikh Gumi had asked the president to pamper bandits and grant them amnesty and forgiveness, the way the administration of late President Yaradua treated Niger Delta Militants.
However, the Senate has finally added their voice to this debate asking the president to as a matter of urgency declare bandits as terrorists. The Senate called for declaration of total war against bandits and terrorists including bombing their locations to completely annihilate and eliminate them.
But why should President Muhammadu Buhari heed the request of the Senate and declare bandits as terrorists? This is because bandits seems to be a euphemistic names for this evil doers who are nothing but terrorists.
If President Muhammadu Buhari refuse to deal with them as advised by the Senate, the bandits will keep on holding the country ransom by unleashing attacks on innocent citizens thereby worsening the insecurity state of the country.
