The APC Zoning arrangement of the 10th National Assembly has been slammed by some senators who believe that the leadership of the parliament should be decided by its members and not by the ruling party. There has also been discussion about having a rubber stamp National Assembly with this zoning of presiding offices. A member of the Tinubu/Shettima campaign council and Former Kano state commissioner, Muazu Magaji has asserted that the President-elect, Bola Tinubu had taken the APC back to the template merger that enabled them to win 2015 election.
He noted that there were five parties that came together to form the APC that defeated the PDP. He explained that although the present administration has abandoned the merger template, Tinubu has brought it back with the zoning structure he had made for the parliament and House of Representatives.
He said, ''Now with the APC zoning, Asiwaju has brought us back to the merger template of 2014. The Five political parties that participated in the merger have all been represented equitably. For example, the ACN now have the President-elect, the ANPP now has the Vice President, the Gentleman proposed to be Speaker is from Kaduna State, the hub of CPC. Now the two other parties that joined the merger are the new PDP and a faction of APGA. Akpabio represents the new PDP and this is what people don't understand.''
