Build up to the October 30 and 31st national convention of the PDP is getting interesting as the Southern PDP politicians are brainstorming on how to share the key positions in the next NWC of the PDP allocation to them by the zoning committee of the PDP.

South-West, South-East and South-South PDP political leaders have concluded arrangements on key positions each of the geo-political zones will get.
What is the top PDP NWC position which the South-West lost to the South-East?
Before now, the South-West was tipped to produce the National Secretary of the PDP. But a report on Nation newspaper has it that the Southern leaders in PDP have zoned it to South-East.
This is because the political battle between Makinde and Fayose didn't allow them to agree on a candidate to present for that position.

Fayose's loyalists in the South-West PDP have a preferred candidate while Makinde's loyalists also have a preferred candidate.
Their inability to reach a consensus made the South-East which appears to be united on the zoning of key positions in PDP get the National Secretary slot.
The South-West can now fight for the Publicity Secretary of the PDP since it is another NWC position zoned to the South.
They can also push to get the position of National Woman Leader, Financial Secretary or National Auditor. But the position of the National Secretary is higher than all of them.
The battle as to who controls PDP in the South-West started when the South-West held its congress to elect its zonal executives of which Governor Seyi Makinde's preferred candidate emerged as the zonal chairman.

The South-West has never produced the national chairman of the PDP since the party was formed in 1998 but its inability to secure the national secretary position ahead of the PDP national convention is unfortunate.
