Kwara APC Crisis: 4 Weighty Allegations Gov Abuldurazaq Made Against Lai Mohammed

As the crisis rocking the Kwara chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), continues, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, governor of Kwara, has again hit at minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, and made some weighty allegations against him.

Recall that for some months now, the Kwara Governor and Information minister has been at loggerheads over unresolvable political differences.

In July, Mohammed, during the inauguration of a new state secretariat in Ilorin, said the party entered “one chance” by supporting the candidacy of Abdulrazaq.

Mohammed said he raised a major part of the funds for the 2019 elections in the state, which the APC won by a landslide.

But the governor and lawmakers in the state denied the allegations, saying they funded their elections with their own money and donations from friends.

Similarly, the Governor has now made fresh allegations against the Information minister as the division in Kwara APC persist.

First, Governor Abdulrazaq alleged that the minister doesn't come to Kwara but rather goes to Lagos where his family are. That’s his home, he said.

Additionally, the Governor alleged that Mohammed has no house Kwara.

Speaking further, Abdulrazaq who lamented the pressure his government is passing through because of the Information minister, alleged that the resources that was expected to flow down to the state from Abuja, are always being hijacked by Mohammed who do run from one ministry to the other to try and hijack resources meant for the state.

Moreover, Abdulrazaq also alleged that the minister is only good with making “noise” on social media, but in the real sense, has no political influence and cannot win an election in his ward.

To this end, as the division in the fold of the Kwara APC continues to widen, there are fears that the PDP might seize the loophole to return to the helm of affairs in the state as 2023 governorship elections draws near.

Meanwhile, while speaking at the inauguration of the new executive council of the PDP in Ilorin on Saturday, a former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, vowed that the PDP will recapture political power in Kwara state in 2023.
