Bala Mohammed's words: "I am pleased to have performed my civic duty today; I am confident that the people of Bauchi will vote for me massively since I have done so much in the last four years to gain their trust. I'm delighted the process is going well and that all eligible voters can vote for their favourite candidate. On the other hand, election is not a do-or-die affair; I will accept the outcome of the results. I wish that Allah blesses all of us."
Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State and a member of the People Democratic Party (PDP), and Sadique Abubakar, a former chief of the air staff of Nigeria and a candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), are engaged in a battle for the state's soul in the hopes that their respective political campaigns will help them win.
