In Nigerian politics, ethnicity, tribalism and nepotism has become the order of the day. It is like a political abomination for someone who is not an indigene of a state to get appointed or employed in a government agency that is not his state. It is a good challenge to all that the Governor of Gombe State Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has set the pace in his administration.
The Governor appointed two Special Advisers and a Director General. The newly appointees included:
1. Group Captain Bitrus P. Bilal (Rtd) - Special Adviser on Development Control, Compliance and Enforcement
3. Dr. Muazu Shehu - Director General on Research and Documentation
The Governor's appointments was base on the recognition of their track records of achievements, experience, loyalty and commitment to service. The Governor through his Secretary professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi congratulated the new advisers and DG, urging them to bring to bear their wealth of experience in the discharge of their duties in their respective offices.
Nigeria will be a better place if every Governor should practice something like this. Say no to ethnicity, tribalism and nepotism.
