One, Buhari promised to improve security in Anambra to ensure that the election must go on. This is the first assurance Buhari gave Obiano. He specifically assured him that the election must go on as scheduled. In that regard, the President vowed to increase security presence in the state to combat the unknown gunmen and maintain calm to allow the election take place as planned. Already, the federal government through the IGP, Usman Baba Alkali, has made some deployments in Anambra to that effect. Security booths have been increased to ensure more security presence. Soldiers have also been deployed to enforce the ''Operation Golden Dawn'' aimed at crushing security threats ahead of the election. All these are to make good Buhari's promise.

Two, Buhari assured him that there would be no state of emergency in Anambra. This state of emergency was raised by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami. He threatened that the federal government may impose the state of emergency in the state if the unknown gunmen continue with the attacks amid other security challenges. Declaring state of emergency in Anambra will undermine the powers of the Governor. It may affect the governance of the state, reduce the credibility of the election set to hold among other side effects. But, Buhari assured Obiano that he would not impose any state of emergency in Anambra.

The President promised to provide security and other things necessary to make the election hold peacefully and credibly without any interference from the federal government or any quarter. With these three assurances from Buhari, Obiano returned back to his state very happy and looking forward that his people will choose their next Governor peacefully and in a credible election.
