Gov. Buni reshuffles cabinet, creates new ministry

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has approved the creation of Ministry of Wealth Creation, Empowerment and Employment Generation.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Press Secretary Office of the Secretary to State Government, Shuaibu Abdullahi on Friday.

The statement noted that Gov Buni has also approved a minor cabinet reshuffle with immediate effect where Hon. Abdullahi Bego, from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Information and Culture is now the Commissioner of the new Ministry of Wealth Creation, Empowerment and Employment Generation, while Hon. Mohammed Lamin, from the Ministry of Land and Solid Minerals has been deployed to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Information and Culture.

Pay compensation to #EndSARS victims, NEC directs states

The National Economic Council has directed state governments to pay compensation to victims of police brutality across the country.

NEC also urged youths across the country not to go ahead with the memorial protests scheduled to hold in different parts of Nigeria to mark one year after the EndSARS nationwide protests in October 2020.

NEC, chaired by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, made the resolutions at the end of a meeting on Friday, according to a statement by the Vice-President’s spokesman, Laolu Akande.

The statement was titled, ‘NEC: States, FG To Pay Compensation To Victims Of EndSARS Protests & Prosecute Those Indicted’.

Health ministry establishing oxygen plants in 36 states –NEC

The National Economic Council says the Ministry of Health is establishing oxygen plants across the 36 states of the federation.

Gov. David Umahi of Ebonyi made this known to State House correspondents after a virtual NEC meeting on Friday.

The virtual meeting anchored from the Presidential Villa was presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Umahi said that Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta, who chaired the NEC Adhoc committee interfacing with the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 to ease the lockdown of the economy, presented a report to the council.

Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has warned against violence during the governorship election expected to hold in the state in July 2022.

Speaking on Friday while delivering the State of the State Address at the hallowed chambers of the State House of Assembly as part of activities marking the third anniversary of his administration, Fayemi said he was satisfied that things are getting better in the state.

The Governor used the opportunity of the session, which was attended by top government functionaries, members of the State Executive Council and the State Assembly as well as traditional rulers, to appeal for peace ahead of the 2022 governorship election of his successor in office, stressing that “no position is worth the blood of anybody.”
