It is not news that the court of appeal sitting in Abuja on Wednesday, 16th December, 2020 in a judgement read by Justice Stephen Adah on behalf of a three-man panel of justice has canceled the 7 year jail sentence banged by Olisa Metuh on 25th February, 2020 at the Federal High Court on the ground of allegedly receiving N400 million from the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.
What is news is the mixed reaction the ruling to set aside the imprisonment of the former National Publicity Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metu by Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court is causing in Abia State.
Our reporter found out that many Abians want him to rot in jail because of the inglorious role he played in truncating their democratic wishes in the 2015 governorship election, despite the court of Appeal's nullification of his jail terms on the ground of his trial Judge being bias.
Metuh was said to have in early 2018 apologized to the real winner of the 2015 governorship election in Abia, Dr. Alex Otti, over the inglorious role he played in the said election, especially in the invasion of the INEC headquarters in Umuahia with T.A.Orji and Enyinnaya Abaribe.
Abians see the said invasion as one of the major reasons to their sufferings and the abortion of the electoral victory they freely gave Dr.Alex Otti.
