The People Democratic Party, PDP, has thrown the dice to the North, giving it the opportunity to produce the next presidential candidate in 2023, despite the emergence of a Northerner, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, as the consensus chairmanship candidate of the party.

Due to what I observed, the PDP had always zoned its Presidential and Chairmanship seats to different region, but while the party zoned its Chairmanship this time around, it has refused to zone its Presidential seat.
The concern that there may be a severe misunderstanding among members of the party on which region will presidency be zoned to has aroused, after the party gave the chairmanship opportunity to the North.
The disagreement prediction, which is traced back to the the period when Bajare, who had in a statement on Wednesday, said the North-Central needed the Presidency and not the post of the party's National Chairman, adding that if the region eventually gets the Chairmanship, it should not be prevented from contesting for Presidency.
In view of the matter, the North are insisting that, after it has been resolved that the zone gets the Chairmanship, they should equally not be stopped from taking part in the Presidential race. This may arouse unpleasantry to the party because the South will surely kick against the act if the North would be allowed to also contest for Presidency. It is certain that when one zone gets Chairmanship, the other will get the Presidential ticket.
In order to prevent the unpleasant prediction from coming through, the party should stick to its zoning arrangement of equal opportunity of sharing the post among different region and not focusing the opportunity to one region.
