How Seyi Makinde Dumped Oyinlola To Back Arapaja To Emerge Deputy National How Seyi Makinde Dumped Oyinlola To Back Arapaja To Emerge Deputy National Chairman Of PDP (South)

Former Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola before now was set to emerge as the National Chairman of the PDP. But the story changed when the zoning committee of the PDP zoned the National Chairmanship of the PDP to the North and the subsequent ratification of such decision by the NEC.

He is now in the race to see if he can emerge as the Deputy National Chairman (South) of the PDP but it appears things are not going his way.

According to Vanguard newspaper, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has dumped Oyinlola to back Arapaja who is the current Vice-Chairman of the South-West PDP.

Those who followed the zonal congress of the PDP in the South-West will agree with me that Seyi Makinde fought Fayose politically to ensure that Arapaja emerged the South-West Vice Chairman of the PDP.

Arapaja is his political ally hence the reason he dumped Oyinlola a few days to the PDP National Chairman. This development came up after a series of meeting within the South-West PDP. As it stands now, Oyinlola is going to PDP National Convention to contest for the Deputy National Chairman of the South on his own.

None of the top political stakeholders in the South-West are in support of him. Even Senator Adeleke who is an influential figure in Osun PDP where Oyinlola belong prefers Oladipo, former PDP national secretary.

Oyinlola has already paid N3 million to pick the PDP form to contest for the Deputy National Chairman(South). But recent developments in the South-West PDP show that he has to fight his battle alone at the convention if he wants to win.

Some people expect Makinde to support Oyinlola to emerge as Deputy National Chairman(South) since zoning the National Chairmanship to the North stopped him from contesting for it after he was endorsed by PDP Governors.

However, politics is about interest and I guess Makinde has his reasons for dumping Oyinlola to support Taofeek Arapaja.
