US Election: Pope Francis offers blessings and Congratulations to President-elect, Joe Biden.

Pope Francis congratulated US President-elect Joe Biden on Thursday for winning the 2020 presidential election. Pope Francis, spoke with Joe Biden via telephone on Thursday, to offer his blessings and congratulations to Joe Biden on his victory in the just concluded presidential election.

Pope Francis is, as the bishop of Rome, the head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of the Vatican City State. Francis is the first Jesuit pope, the first from the Americas, the first from the Southern Hemisphere, and the first pope from outside Europe since the Syrian Gregory III, who reigned in the 8th century.

Joe Biden, is only the second Catholic elected United States President after John F Kennedy in 1960. Joe Biden thanked the Pope for extending his blessings and congratulations, and also thanked the Pope's leadership in promoting peace, reconciliation, and oneness around the world. The President-elect, Joe Biden, expressed his desire to work together on the basis of a shared belief in the dignity and equality of all humankind.
