Chairman of Ikwerre LGA Samuel Nwanosike in a telephone interview said his decision to lockdown the LGA is borne out of the area being a flash point, as it houses the International Airport and also a boundary town to neighbouring states.
Residents of the area woke up to security agents mounting road blocks
and stopping pedestrians and motorists from passing.
Nwanosike in a telephone interview said though the decision is not also easy for the government but the needful must be done to avoid situations getting out of hand, as residents of the area have not been complying with directives.
While urging residents to obey lockdown rules, Nwanosike saidg governmentis doing all to ensure that it makes the lockdown less
stressful for the people so as to win the war against COVID-19
Some of the communities under Ikwerre LGA include: Igwuruta, Omagwa, Isiokpo, Ozuaha, Ubima, Omawa, Ipo.
The Rivers state government had declared a twenty four hours lockdown
in Obio Akpor and Port Harcourt City Local government areas till
