On Thursday, the minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi disclosed this during a briefing to State House Correspondents at the presidential villa in Abuja.
He said the extension was to allow the the president make a proper choice of replacement.

A second republic lawmaker known as Junaid Mohammed has spoken up about the Igbos ambition to produce president in 2023.
The lawmaker stated that with people like Nnamdi Kalu, the leader of IPOB and John Nwodo the former president of Ohanaeze Indigbo it will be very hard for the Southeast to produce a press, describing them as gangsters scoundrel who will be an obstacle to the 2023 presidential chances of the Southeast.
Nigerians Will Vote Out APC In 2023 - Gov Wike
The Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike has said the inability of the APC led Federal government will make Nigerians vote them out of the presidency come 2023.
The governor said this in Yola on Thursday during the inspection of the Greater Interchange and Underpass constructed by the Adamawa State governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
The governor said the economic situation that has led to increase in Insecurity across the nation will be the reason for voting out the APC in 2023.
