Women Association Protest, Threaten To Take Part In Forthcoming Ondo Gubernatorial Election

The National Council for Women Society (NCWS), Ondo chapter protested at the office of attorney General and Commissioner for Justice,Adekola Olawoye over Favour Semilore Tomomewo's suspension, the only female lawmaker in the state house of Assembly on Thursday 16 July.

They also threatened to boycott Ondo gubernatorial election that will be held in October if the legislator is not recalled.

It was not only madam Tomomewo, two other male lawmakers were also suspended for alleged unruly behavior, but the cause of the protest was that Tomomewo who is the only female legislator was among the offenders.

The president of the association (NCWS), Pastor Jumoke Aborode said the suspension of the woman was an afront to dignity of womenfolk. She added that it is a slap on the womenfolk if they do not have a representative in the assembly as the party primaries and elections are nearby.

The Attorney General and the Commissioner for Justice directed them to the House of Assembly instead of his office.
