The first woman to be the first lady of more than one country

Graca machel is a humanitarian and politician from Mozambique born in 17 October 1945. She is the youngest of six children born 17 days after her fathers death. She attended Methodist mission schools before gaining a scholarship to the university of Lisbon in Portugal where she studied German. 

Graca machel was married to Samora Machel (1933-1986), President of Mozambique, from 1975 to 1986.

President Machel was killed on 19 October 1986 in a plane crash. On 18 July 1998, Graca Machel formally first lady of Mozambique who was married to late President of Mozambique, Samora Machel got married to formal and late President of South Africa Nelson Mandela, who is now as freedom fighter and his unyielding role in apartheid abolition. 

Graca Machel was the first lady and officially married wife of both late President, Samora Machel of Mozambique, and late President, Nelson Mandela of South Africa making Graca Machel the first woman to be “First Lady” of two different countries.
