DPR Speaks On Petrol Price
The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Katsina State Field Office, says it will ensure petrol is sold at the government-approved price in the state.
The government-approved price is from N162 to N165 per litre.
Abulrahaman said that some major petroleum marketers in the state were selling petrol above the approved price.
Man Bag Six-month Imprisonment For Stealing Loudspeaker
An Abuja Upper Area Court in Zuba, on Friday sentenced a 24-year-old labourer, Stephen Nanzhi, to six months’ imprisonment for stealing a loudspeaker from Hajj Camp in Gwagwalada, FCT.
Mr Nanzhi, who resides in Bassa village, Gwagwalada, is charged with theft.
The Judge, Gambo Garba, sentenced Mr Nanzhi after he pleaded guilty to the charge and pleaded for leniency.
Mr Garba, who gave Nanzhi an option to pay a fine of N20, 000, warned him to desist from crimes.
ASUP Threatens Another Strike
The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), has threatened to embark on strike from April 6, over what it described as “unresolved issues with the and some states.
ASUP gave the notice in a communique at the end of its 99th National Executive Council meeting on Friday, in Katsina.
In the communique, signed by its President, Mr Anderson Ezeibe, ASUP said the decision was to draw government’s attention to the need to release the 10 months arrears of the new minimum wage, owed its members in federal polytechnics.
The association also demanded that some state governments should pay up arrears of the new minimum wage owed state polytechnic lecturers.
Igboho Speaks On Yoruba Nation
Yoruba rights activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has declared his support for the establishment of the Yoruba nation.
Captured speaking in a viral video, Igboho, who gained prominence following an ultimatum he issued to criminal herdsmen in the South-West, expressed the determination to defend Yoruba land.
According to him, “Starting from now, we don’t want herdsmen in our land to disturb our farms again. If we meet any killer herdsmen, we are going to face and destroy them.
Fulani Herdsmen Invade Rivers Community
There has been tension in Agbonchia community in the Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State after Fulani herdsmen invaded the area, destroying farmlands and assaulting the residents.
Sahara Reporters learnt that the invasion started on Monday with residents deserting the area gradually due to the fear of the killer herdsmen, who reportedly also raped some women in the community.
Some of the residents told SaharaReporters that a massive peaceful protest is being carried out today, Friday, to force the attention of the state and federal government to the community which is presently under herdsmen’s siege.
