Before the 2015 General election, Chief Olu Falae alongside others founded the Social Democratic Party (SDP). The party metamorphosed from the Social Democratic Mega Party (SDMP) to the Social Democratic Party (SDP). Social Democratic Party is currently one of the 18 registered political parties in Nigeria. It fulfilled the requirements from been deregistered by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
As it stands today, Chief Olu Falae is the national leader of the party. Falae’s contributions to the politics of Nigeria cannot be underestimated. It would be recalled that Chief Olu Falae contested against Chief Olusegun Obasanjo of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in the 1999 Presidential election. Though the election was keenly contested but he eventually lost to Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in which Chief Olu Falae is the national leader also have a governorship candidate in the forthcoming Ondo governorship election. He might not work for Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu as being speculated.
