2 PDP Politicians That Olusegun Obasanjo Can Endorse As President And Vice President In 2023

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo can make two endorsements for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the upcoming presidential election. As things are going now politically in Nigeria, the ruling party's popularity is growing sporadically beyond expectations. The opposition party needs to carefully select people that will be representing the interest of the party in the next presidential election.

The members of the party are going through many Individual crises in the party that need to be resolved before the commencement of the incoming general election. As things are now, the issue of Prince Uche Secondus is yet to be settled by the members of the party. After settling that issue, the second problem that the opposition party may have is the selection of the flag bearers of the party against the incoming presidential election.

For that not to cause any trouble again in the party, former President Olusegun Obasanjo can use his experience as a former president of the country to endorse people that will serve as the presidential and vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the upcoming presidential election. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo can endorse two politicians that will be discussed below.

The first politician that Obasanjo can endorse as the presidential candidate of the party is Atiku Abubakar. If the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) should conduct a primary election now, Atiku Abubakar will likely win it because of his influence in the party. He ran alongside Peter Obi in the last presidential election, but the duo was defeated eventually. Even, that is not the case presently. Both Atiku Abubakar and Former President Olusegun Obasanjo ruled together for eight years at the beginning of the fourth republic. He must have known his political capabilities.

Several factors worked against Atiku Abubakar in the year 2019 presidential election. One of them is the fact that his opponent is also from the northern part of the country. Since northerners are the largest number of voters, the votes were divided into two. Now that the flag bearer of the All Progressive Congress (APC) is likely to come from the south, Atiku Abubakar will have a way forward. Obasanjo should recommend Atiku Abubakar as the vice-presidential candidate of the party.

Secondly, Obasanjo should also consider Peter Obi from Anambra State as the vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He worked alongside Atiku Abubakar in the last presidential election, and he proved that he was a worthy partner in the election. Peter Obi's people came out massively to vote for the opposition party. Obasanjo should endorse Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi as president and vice-presidential candidates of the party respectively.
