The Last Time We Voted, Our Vote Didn't Count- Bayelsa Women Shun Poling Units For Their Businesses

Some market women in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State have carried on with their daily activities despite being mandated by the Independent National Electoral Commission to go out and exercise their civic responsibilities.

In a viral video posted by Channels TV, the women were seen opening their shops and carrying on with their businesses in the market.

Speaking in the video, one of the women said they have decided not to go to any polling units because the one they voted last time, their vote did not count.

She said: "The last time we voted, our vote did not count"

She also explained that they voted and stayed with their votes till the election was concluded. When they counted vote in her polling unit, the candidate they voted won. But by the time the result was taken to collation centre, it was another candidate that won their polling unit.

She said the result had been changed and someone else was declared winner of their unit.

Because of that, she said they decided to face their businesses rather than going to waste their time at the polling unit where it is obvious their votes won't count.
