The Governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello has revealed led to him and other governors taking the Naira policy case to court over refusal of the CBN to extend the deadline.
The governor explained that it was a normal thing to have misunderstanding over policy making but the most important thing is how it's been carried out. He said the Naira redesign idea was sold to President Buhari by people who ill-advised him and that the president would never do anything contrary to the constitution or the well being of Nigerians. Yahaya Bello further narrated that the policy was a good one but the timing was however the problem,
Speaking on, he disclosed that during one of their meetings with the monetary board, he told the people responsible for the implementation of the policy to carry themselves to any Market in Nigeria, announce themselves as the people responsible for the Naira redesign and see if they would be able to come back alive.
In his words "We discussed and told them the implications of all of these (Naira policy) but they didn't listen. In the last meeting we held with them by our forum, I did mention to about three of them. I said look, you guys are key to the implementation of this policy. Look, for you to know that this policy is popular, take yourselves, hold microphones then go and walk along the streets of anywhere in this country or wuse market here and say I'm the Head of so so or minister and tell them all the good grammar about the policy and say you're the one that brought it and tell them to embrace it and see whether you will return back home alive"
