Available indicators have shown that the internal crisis in the Kano chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress has continued to deepen.

According to a report by Daily Trust, the faction loyal to Senator Ibrahim Shekarau elected Alhaji Ahmadu Danzago as the factional Chairman of APC in Kano State on Saturday.

In the same vein, Abdullahi Abbas was elected as the APC chairman in Kano State in the congress attended by the State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.

Recall that before the Saturday State Congress, Senator Shekarau, a two-term Governor of the State had earlier alleged that he has been sidelined in the state by Governor Ganduje after helping him to win his second term in 2019.
An earlier report had explained that Shekarau and other aggrieved APC bigwigs in Kano submitted a petition at APC National Secretariat on Wednesday and alleged that they have been sidelined in the State by Ganduje.

Shekarau and other aggrieved party chieftains went further to demand the cancellation of the earlier Wards and local governments Congresses held in the state.
What Ganduje can do after the parallel congress?
As the executive Governor of Kano State and the leader of the party in the State, Ganduje needs to lead a reconciliation committee to bring all the aggrieved members onboard and resolve all the grievances.

Kano has given APC its highest votes in the 2015 and 2019 presidential elections. This is why the state is important to the ruling party and Ganduje cannot afford to lose Kano to the opposition party in the 2023 general elections.
Remember that the aggrieved party members may work against the party in the next election if the issues are not resolved.
This is why Ganduje needs to lead the reconciliation committee to resolve his differences with Shekarau before the next election in the state.
