Check Out How Jesus Christ Said We Should Treat Our Enemies

The message of Christ concerning how Christians should treat their enemies appears to be grossly misunderstood. The popular practice among many Christians today seem to differ significantly from what Christ taught in the Bible. While Moses and the prophets believed in revenge, Christ preached forgiveness and love.

The average Christian believes that Jesus Christ is superior to Moses but when it comes to handling of our enemies, many Christians seem to disagree with the teachings of Christ. For instance it is common to hear Christians calling holy ghost fire against their enemies, others re-echo " back to sender", others easily release curses. This leaves me in doubt as to whether these teachings of Christ I read repeatedly are known to all christians or what may be wrong?

Christ taught this on the mount of olives" You have heard that it has been said "You shall Love your neighbor and hate your enemy" but I say to you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you,and pray for them who despitefully use you and persecute you." Matt 5:43-44

About calling down fire from heaven against our enemies check out what Christ told some of his apostles who asked him if they should do that ,Jesus Christ replied" you do not know the kind of spirit you have received, for the son of man have not come to destroy people's lives but to save them"

What position did the apostles of Christ hold concerning this teaching? Paul strongly supported the teaching of our Lord Jesus Christ when he said " If your enemy is hungry, give him food, if he is thirsty give him water, in this way, you will be heaping coals of fire upon his head.. Rom 12:20

Conclusion : I think that Christian Brothers and sisters should pay more attention to the teaching of Christ on this topic than reverting to Moses and Elijah.
