Church resumption in Lagos State: See churches that did not reopen despite Government's new decree

Some big churches in Nigeria with there headquarters in Lagos State South West Nigeria has announced that the will not be resuming church services today been 9 August after government lifted the coronavirus lockdown order on worship centres.

Nigeria goment did suspend religious gatherings in the country since March to curb the spread of the virus.

The Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 did allow the reopening of churches and mosques in country in June but Lagos State government did not agree on the reopen of worship centres in the state sake of the in coronavirus cases.

It was later agreed to give go ahead to religious gathering to start on 7 August.

But some churches in the state has come out to say that the are yet not ready to reopen.

This churches gave different reasons for there decisions, some said the need to prepare the place for reopening in other to meet the safety protocols of the federal goment, others said the are waiting to hear from God before reopen.

The leadership of Mountain and Fire and Miracle Ministries MFM said the would not be holding service I'm all the church regions, branches or zones in Lagos and Ogun states until 13 September 2020 as the are planning on putting the place with preventive measures against coronavirus and follow all the safety protocols that the federal government, state government and NCDC has put on ground.


The popular Church in Lagos that Senior Pastor Sam Adeyemi is heading, said the will continue holding services online.

The leadership said the will continue with this until the can guarantee safe environment for worshippers.


The General Overseer of Synagogue Church of all Nations Pastor TB Joshua hail authorities in there effort to prevent the spread of coronavirus and also did announce that even though authorities has allowed churchs to resume, the would like to hear from God.

Pastor TB Joshua said after the hear from God, the will now decide when services will resume in there church.


The church took to there twitter handle to say that the will release the date the will be meeting physically in church as the will continue there line services for now.

The message reads:

We acknowledge the announcement of the Lagos State Government with respect to the resumption of physical church meetings.

We will communicate the date for the commencement of our physical church services in due course.#SundayService #OnlineService #JoinUs #TFOLC


The Covenant Nation has fixed 6 September as there date of reopen.

Pastor Mrs Toyin Poju-Oyemade said online services will still continue for now.
