Also known as the Ark of the Testimony containing the two stone tablets of the "Ten Commandments", Aaron's rod and a pot of manna.
The truth is, no one knows whether it was destroyed, stolen or hidden.
But based on some of my personal research, the Ark of the Covenant is believed to be located in Ethiopia, where it still resides in the town of Axum, in the Ethiopian Orthodox, Tewahedo Church, kept under guard in a Treasury near the Church of our Lady Mary of Zion.

On June 25, 2009, the patriarch of the Orthodox Church of Ethiopia, Abune Paulos said he would announce to the world the unveiling of the Ark of the Covenant, which he said is safe and secure in a Church in Axum, Ethiopia. But the next day, which was 26 June 2009, he decided against it saying he would not unveil it, but could only attest to it's current status.
