The General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry, Pastor D.K. Olukoya, has revealed why court marriage is not recognized by God.
In a video on his verified Facebook page, the man of God said that once a person is born again, no court on earth has the right to join the person to a man or woman. Olukoya said, "God does not recognize court marriage because the couples in court are not standing at the altar and a priest is not there to join them together." Olukoya further said that the court can only fill papers but can't join people spiritually. He said, "Any court marriage or engagement without an altar and a pastor is still an immoral relationship even if the dowry has been paid." He said that any children that come from court marriages are recognized as bastards. This implies that court marriage is only a secondary aspect of marriage.
