3 Ways To Increase The Potency Of Your Prayers

The more powerful your prayers are, the more exploitation they can do in the kingdom of darkness. If you experience a serious delay in getting answers to your prayers, you need to be serious about what I am about to share with you. I will show you three biblical ways to improve the potency of your prayers.

1. Pray in anguish

Nowadays, many Christians pray with their hands in their pockets. Abraham the father of faith, didn't pray like that. When you say a casual prayer, you will receive a casual answer.

Hannah in the book of first Samuel prayed with anguish and God answered her speedily. You can only pray with anguish when you understand the need for what you are praying for.

Hannah clear understood that she greatly need a son and that caused her to pray just according to her need. Let me give you an example.

1 Samuel 1:12,15

And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the Lord and wept in anguish.

And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee.

And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD.

When you pour your soul before the Lord, your prayers will be answered. This is what the book of James calls fervent prayers.

"The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." James 5:16

When you pray for money, understand why you need the money at present and how it will bring glory to God. Why most of our prayers remain unanswered is because we ask to spend it according to our lustful desire just as it's written in the book of James.

If you are to pray for something, understand the depth of the need in your heart and pour it to God as it is in your spirit. This will attract answers speedily.

Do you know that this is how Jabez also prayed and God answered him speedily?

Jabez saw the calamity around his present and future life. He was first of all consumed by his problem. Therefore, he prayed and God answered. May the Holy Spirit help you to pray in this manner in the name of Jesus.

1 Chronicle 4:9-10

And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying Because I bare him with sorrow.

And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.

2. Lay Hold Of What He said

Another way to increase the potency of your prayers is by laying hold of God's promises to you. When you pray and remind Him what He says concerning you, He answers speedily. Let's quickly look at an example from the book of Acts of the Apostles.

Acts 4:24-26,31

And when they heard that, they lifted their voice to God with one accord and said Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:

Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?

The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and his Christ.

And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

Did you note the pattern Of these prayers? After worshipping God, they started reminding God what he has said through David His servant. Did you note that God answered them immediately? This is what is called "praying the word".

Whenever you pray, open your Bible and remind Him what He has promised you and you will see changes in your prayer.

3. The last way to increase the potency of your prayers is by building your holy faith. On several occasions, Jesus ' disciples prayed but their prayer yielded no result due to the issue of faith.

Many of us still have this problem. You may be praying for something yet, contemplating whether God can do it. This hinders your prayers from yielding results.

James 5:15

"And the prayer of faith shall save the sick...."

James 1:6-8

But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

For let, not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord.
