See The Tallest Statue Of Jesus in Africa. It is Located In This Eastern State In Nigeria.

There are numerous statues of Jesus around the world and Nigeria is not an exception.

Nigeria actually houses the tallest statue of Jesus in the whole of Africa. On the 1st of January, 2016, the statue, standing at a staggering 28 feet tall, was unveiled in Abajah village located in Imo state, Eastern Nigeria.

The statue was dubbed "Jesus de Greatest", it was commissioned by Obinna Onuoha a devout catholic and a businessman, who hired a Chinese company to carve the statue. It weighs about 40 tonnes. At the time of the unveiling, more than a hundred priests and hundreds of Catholic worshippers were in attendance.

The "Jesus de Greatest" statue is barefooted and its arms are outstretched. It is made from white marble.

The statue is considered the largest statue of Jesus in Africa and also the fifth largest statue in Africa.

The largest statue (not of Jesus) in Africa is the African Renaissance Monument (160ft),followed by the Great sphinx of Gaza (66ft).

The tallest statue of Jesus in the whole world is "Christ the king", located in Poland which stands at over a hundred feet tall.
