Tithing has been a serious issue of contention on Nigeria. There are those who believe tithing to be a compulsory thing for Christians and there are those who believe it is optional. Still, there are those who believe it shouldn't be paid at all.
One of our rights as human beings is freedom to religion and freedom of thought. Everyone has a right to think or do what he likes as far as it doesn't affect the other person. On twitter, many people came out to air their views and opinions on whether tithing should be paid. Some said it shouldn't and some said it should and most gave their reasons.
A popular Nigerian pastor, Bishop David Oyedepo said that tithing is an obligation and compulsory for Christians.

This man is teaching heresy. The law of tithing was compulsory under d Old Covenant for d Nation of Israel; it also carried curse. But Under dis Grace Era, believers are no longer under such obligation bcos Jesus had redeemed us from all d curses of d law (Gal. 3v13). We are not under d Law of tithing's ordinance bcos Jesus ended it wit his death (Eph. 2v15; Rom. 10v4)
