Catholic Church Celebrates mother's day today

According to Wikipedia, Mothering Sunday is a day honouring Mothers and Mother Churches, celebrated in the United kingdom and Ireland and elsewhere in the English-speaking world on the fourth Sunday in Lent since the middle ages.

2021 Mothering Sunday was supposed to be celebrated on 14th of March, 2021, but Catholic Church in her wisdom adjourned it to 18th of April 2021, because 14th of March, was Palm Sunday, the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, and the two fists should not be celebrated on the same day. The next Sunday after palm Sunday was the feast of Divine Mercy, called, (a Divine Mercy Sunday) then the church thought of 18th of March, as the Sunday that suits in for mother's day celebration.

On the Mothering Sunday, Christians have historically visited their mother church - the church in which they receive the sacrament of baptism.

Constance Adelaide Smith smith revived its modern observance beginning in 1913 to honour Mother church, 'Mothers of earthly homes', Mary, Mother of Jesus, and Mother Nature. It gained popularity in response to the original American mother's day.

Below are images of some of the Nigeria Mothers celebrating Mothering Sunday in Blessed Iwene Tansi Catholic Church Parish, Enugu State.

Let's pray for the Mothers all over the world.

Let's wish them well,

Let's Congratulate them for the work they are doing.

God bless Mothers and mothers to be.
