Bishop David Oyedepo made a statement about tithing, which a popular stand-up comedian reacted to the statement.
This is the screenshot of Bishop David Oyedepo statement.
And here is the screenshot of Basketmouth reaction towards Bishop Davido Oyedopo statement.
Based on trending controversy about tithing between Basketmouth and Bishop David Oyedepo. This is my opinion about tithing and why children of God should not be threaten of not paying their tithe.
In ancient Israel, tithing was commanded under the mosaic Law to support God’s temple workers, the Levite’s and the priests. (Numbers 18:21, 24-29)
They had no tribal lands other than certain cities, so they needed this special support. In addition, faithful Israelites were free to give voluntary contributions for special projects, such as the construction of the tabernacle and the temple. Exodus 25:1-8; 1 Chronicles 29:3-7.
However, when Jesus died, the Bible says that he abolished the law of commandments consisting in decrees. (Ephesians 2:15; Colossians 2:13, 14)
To Furthermore, In God’s eyes the law was no longer binding on either Jews or Christians. Hence, along with other features of the law, such as regular sacrifices at the temple, tithing was no longer required of the faithful.
Among Christians, giving is motivated by love, not law. The apostle Paul explained the principle when organizing a collection for needy Christians in Judea.
He said: “ Let each one do just as he has resolved in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. ” (2 Corinthians 9:7) This is a Scriptural method of voluntary giving that should be practice.
Deuteronomy 14 vs 22 - 29 talks about “ Tithing ” and how it should be practice.
Deuteronomy 15 vs 10 talks about “ Giving to the poor ” and the blessing that comes with it.
Proverbs 22 vs 16 talks about “Giving to the rich” and its consequences. that he who gives to the rich shall surely come to poverty.
So I wonder where all these pastor’s get the bible verse they’re using to threaten their congregation.
What your opinion about tithing?

07-18 17:03:16THE LAWS WERE NOT ABOLISHED!!!!😲😲😲 If all laws were abolished, why don't people condemn giving offerings, and why do people still condemn women wearing trousers[deut 22:5]? You see what I mean by manipulation of Laws for self gain. Matthew 5:17 [Jesus Speaking] "Do not think I came to destroy[abolish] the Law or the Prophets.I did not come to destroy but to FULFILL." Jesus did not ABOLISH the Law,rather He fulfilled it by being condemned to eternal death in order to obtain authority to bring the new Covenant. The Covenant of Grace,Faith and the Spirit. The Old Covenant[Mosaic Laws] are still functioning. It's just like a computer upgrade.Because the new one has come doesn't mean the old one will be abandoned. It's up to the users[believers] to choose. The Law is pure and Just and Good[Romans 7:12]. Do you believe people who said the Law was abolished or THE PRINCE OF PEACE Himself? It's either you function under the Law of Sin and death or the Law of The Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus.TAKE NOTE.
