Why The Laws And Commandments of Moses Cannot Save You From Sin

The law was given as a token of God's covenant with the Jews while they were Ina exodus from Egypt to Canaan.

It was handed over to them 450 years after God promised to bless Abraham, their progenator who first had an encounter with God while he was in Babylon (Mesopotamia) now known as Iraq.

The scriptures made us to understand that the law was given to the Israelites as a result of their constant transgressions hence it served as protective custody meant to curtail their stubborness and rebellion against Moses, their leader and God.

Galatians 3:19 "Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator." (KJV).

Apostle Paul while writing to the Galatian church revealed to them that the law does not justify or make anybody right in the sight of God.

Galatians 3:11 "But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith." (KJV).

He further warned them to desist from trying so hard to keep the dictates of the law for cursed is anyone that doeth not everything that is written in the law to keep them.

Galatians 3:10 "For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them." (KJV).

Remember, the book of the law is not just the ten commandments of Moses, it is the entirety of the book of Deuteronomy.

Galatians 3:12 "And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them." (KJV).

No wonder no one can succeed in keeping the laws for it is an impossible road to heaven.

Galatians 3:13 "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law,... " (KJV).

What purpose was the law meant to achieve then? It was meant to lead us to Christ.

This means that the appearance of the Christ marked the end of the law and as many as still remain therein is practicing the old order which cannot make anyone acceptable God's beloved.

Galatians 3:24 "Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster." (KJV).

The essence of this epistle is to open your eyes of understanding that you may see and comprehend that Christ is the end of the law;

For justification is by faith and not by the works of the law.
