Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi was born in Erin-Ijesa, Osun state, Nigeria on 6th June, 1941. He was born into an Anglican family of Mr. Gabriel Kumuyi and Mrs. Comfort Kumuyi. He completed his secondary education in 1961 after which he proceeded to being a teacher at Mayflower School the following year.
He also attended University of Ibadan, where he graduated with a first class honours degree in Mathematics in the year 1967. However, it was at University of Lagos - where he completed a Postgraduate certificate in Education - that Deeper Life Bible study group started. It consisted about 15 university students then and by the 1980s, this group had grown into a few thousand members. At this present time, the Deeper Christian Life Ministry was established.
Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi is a man widely known for his humility and clear thinking, it is no doubt this man was gifted. He once said in one of his sermons that "God, in the growth of Deeper Life Bible Church, has strategically and prudently used miracles to make all men come to him (John 3:26). We take Christian living and holiness seriously". This quote appeared to be grasped firmly by virtually all members of the Church as they are known to make holiness and Christian living their mantra wherever they found themselves.
