Bible Reading Genesis 25 : 19- 34; 27 :1-40.
While reading the above Bible passages, we learn that Isaac, the begotten son of Abraham, gave birth to twins sons, Esau and Jacob, Isaac's wife was Rebekah.
Esau was the elder brother to Jacob, one day Esau returned from farm he was hungry, instead of him to summon courage and found what he would eat, he went straight to his younger brother, Jacob to give him from his delicious pottage he had prepared, Jacob gave a condition for Esau upon which he could share it with Esau. What was the condition? "And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright." (Genesis 25 : 31).
Esau because of food Ignored his birthright and said, " Behold, I am at point to die; and what profit shall this birthright do me?" Ignorantly and carelessly he sold his birthright for a meal of pottage. He ate the pottage that very day but later in the future, he suffered for it, he wanted to reclaim his birthright, but it was already late, he cried for it, he couldn't get it back, oh sorry, it was already late.
Read (Genesis 27 : 34 - 38).
When the time came for Esau, being the first son, to receive the blessings of the first son, according to culture and practice of Jews, he lost the glory, his younger brother, took the blessings and the glory, at that point, Esau wept bitterly for it, but he couldn't get it back.
Moral Lessons From The Story
Your birthright is your salvation, your virginity, your body, your name, your family's name and your life.
My esteemed readers, don't ever sell your birthright for anything else. I know you are looking for a job as a lady, don't sell your body to get the job, wait upon the Lord, He will do the best for you. Therefore, keep yourself holy for God.
You want to aspire for one post or the others, don't do otherwise, don't take short cut, it will boomerang later, by then, it will become a regret.
Young boys and girls, when you join bad gangs to commit robbery, engage in internet fraud and money ritual, you are selling your birthright, therefore, desist from such company, or else, when you are caught, it will be a thing of regret and sorrow for you.
Say this prayer, " Oh Lord, my God, help to keep my body holy for you, don't let me Sell my birthright for anything else. Give me the grace to wait upon the Lord.
