1 Pastor Enoch Adeboye
Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer Of the Redeemed Christian Church of God has made the headline of some newspapers this year for numerous reasons.
Notable among the reasons why he has made the headline of some newspapers this year is the death of his son, Pastor Dare Adeboye who died in his sleep some weeks ago.
Pastor Dare before his death was reported to be the Assistant Pastor in charge of Region (Youth) 35, where he ministered last before he yielded to the glorious call.
Pastor Adeboye also made the headline of some newspapers this year when he was verbally attacked by the famous Yoruba Freedom Fighter, Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho.
A few weeks ago, Sunday Igboho verbally attacked Pastor Adeboye alleging that the renowned cleric refused to support agitations for the Yoruba nation.
Igboho complained that Pastor Adeboye has a large crowd of the congregation in Nigeria but he didn't speak about the Yoruba Nation to them.
Pastor Adeboye again made the headline of some newspapers some days ago when he described the current Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello as a man of faith whose handling of the Corona Virus pandemic was an inspiring indication of stoic faith.
Pastor Adeboye praised the Governor for his tolerance and inclusiveness to the extent that the first-ever Chapel in the Kogi State Government was built by the Governor.
Different reactions and actions followed this commendation as some people opined that Pastor Adeboye should not mingle too much with Politicians and that Yahaya Bello has not done much to the expectations of the people.
2. Pastor W. F Kumuyi
Some weeks ago, The General Overseer Of The Deeper Life Christian Ministry, Pastor Kumuyi made the headline of some newspapers a few weeks ago when some unknown gunmen stormed the Deeper Life Bible Church, Irene Community in Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State to kidnap Pastor Otamayomi Ogedengbe to an unknown destination.
Pastor Otamayomi Ogedengbe and his wife reportedly went for Bible Study when the gunmen attacked the church and abducted the husband.
Pastor Otamayomi was released later after his abductors have demanded a ransom payment of N30 million.
3. Reverend Father Mbaka
The spiritual director of Adoration Ministry Enugu Nigeria (AMEN) under the Catholic Diocese of Enugu, Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka made the headline of the newspaper this year when he was suspended from church activities for one month following his row with the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Father Mbaka had asked President Buhari to resign or be impeached over his inability to tackle growing insecurity in the country, a call that sparked a row between him and the presidency.
Some days later he was reported missing which sparked protests from his followers in Enugu.
4. Pastor Elijah Abina
Pastor Elijah Abina General Overseer of Faith Mission International (GOFAMINT), made the headline of some newspapers this year when he lost his 53-year-old son, Pastor Emmanuel Folorunso Abina to death.
Before Pastor Emmanuel's demise, he was reported to be the Director of Media of GOFAMINT.
The funeral service for Pastor Folorunsho Abina has however been stated to hold at the Region 12 Headquarters of GOFAMINT 20, Adekunle Banjo Avenue, Magodo Phase 2 Gate, Shangisha, Magodo, Lagos.
