Reasons Pastor Oyedepo might be right about tithing, here is what the bible said about it

Reasons Pastor Oyedepo was right about tithing, here is what the bible said about it.

There as being so many criticism following Dr David Oyedepo word on those who dont give their tithe.

The Man of God said; Tithing is an inescapable covenant obligation. Prosperity not just wealth is impossible without tithing because when you are not paying tithe, you're under a financial curse.”

Despite the fact that many people use the word tithe, they still don't know what it meant, the word tithe literally means “tenth.”

The tithe was an obligatory offering from the law of Moses requiring 10 percent of all firstfruits from the Israelite. Reason for this is because God provided the harvest, this first part was returned to Him

Many people reacted to the tweets negatively without even knowing what the bible said about tithe.

In GEN chapter 14:19–20

The Bible tells us how Abraham was the first man to give tithe even before Moses made it a compulsory law for the Israelite.

Gen 14 19-20"And he blessed him and said,“Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand!” And Abram gave him a tenth of everything".

The second man recorded to give tithe was JACOB.

In GEN. 28:20–22 "Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat and clothing to wear, so that I come again to my father’s house in peace, then the Lord shall be my God, and this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, shall be God’s house. And of all that you give me I will give a full tenth to you.”

In the book of Leviticus Moses gave a law on tithing.

"Leviticus 27:30 “Every tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the trees, is the Lord's; it is holy to the Lord"

Malachi 3:10 further explain more about tithing; The book of Malachi said 'put Him (God) on a test with your tithe and offering and see if he will not open the windows of blessing on you.

"Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need".

The bible explained extensively on tithing and said their is always a blessing attached to it, in fact it went further to refer to those who don't pay their tithe as "robbers".

Malachi 3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? in tithes and offering.

Why so many people are preaching against tithing today is still an unanswered question.
