What All Christians Need To Know Before Giving Their Lives to Christ.

What All Christians Need To Know Before Giving Their Lives to Christ.

The name "Jesus" is the most popular name in history, transcending from one generation to another. Jesus who died two thousand years ago, according to scriptures, is alive and will live on forever. The name has been a blessing to many, and yet a stumbling block to others. People called on the name and received divine healing and visitations yet others called and it is as though nothing seems to happen.

It is true that the name is powerful, but it can only be appropriated when used according to experiential knowledge. Maybe the seven sons of Sceva have a story to tell. You are only qualified to used this name name when you are genuinely born again. By being born again, you become a citizen and thus a beneficiary of the power in the name. For it is not constitutional to partake of the benefits of a country you don't have the certificate of citizenship. It is wisdom therefore to know the right protocol to obtaining this citizenship.

It is disheartening how believers used certain words when telling about their salvation story or leading others to Christ. Believers, even pastors are found using words like: "Since I gave my life to Jesus, God has been faithful", "If you want to give your life to Jesus, come forward". The intention can be very correct but the usage is wrong.

Remember you are never the the owner of yourself in the first place. See Psalm 100:3 "Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture".

Revelation explains the salvation story better: Revelation 3: 20; Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. This is referring to accepting Jesus into your life. Remember, your body is the temple of the God. For the fact that you have been given a will doesn't in any way make you the owner of yourself. You were bought with a price.

So, you don't give your life to Jesus, this is the right thing to do instead: "you accept the life of Jesus"

The reason why many struggled in their Christian journey is because of this singular reason. Instead of accepting Jesus to live in them, so that it is no longer them that live but Christ lives in them, they felt they are doing Jesus favour by giving their life to Jesus.

So, you hear people say, I gave my life to Jesus five years ago but nothing seems to change. That's the problem! nothing will change as long as you did not accept the life of Christ and lay down your own life at the feet of the Cross.

You lay down your weaknesses, your shame, your poverty, your pride, your sinful nature, your limitations, etc and embrace the life of Christ. A life of freedom. This is life eternal.

So instead of saying I give my life to Christ, say I accept the life of Christ.
