The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, October 19, 2021 as public holiday in commemoration of the birth of the Islamic Holy prophet Muhammad ( also known as Eid-ul-mawlid).
The announcement was made by the Minister of interior, Rauf Aregbesola on behalf of the Federal Government. He congratulated Muslim faithfuls at home and in the diaspora for witnessing this year's occasion.
In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of interior, Dr Shuaib Belgore, the Minister admonished all Muslim faithfuls to imbibe the spirit of love perseverance and patience which are the virtues of the holy prophet Muhammad. He added that by so doing, peace and security will be guaranteed in the country.
According to the statement, the Minister Rauf Aregbesola enjoined all Nigerians particularly Muslims to be law abiding and refrain from any form of violence and lawlessness.
He also enjoined all Nigerians, especially the youths to put a stop to all divisive tendencies in the country and embrace the virtues of hard work and peaceful depositions to fellow human beings irrespective of ideology, faith, social class, ethnicity and also cooperate with the President muhammad Buhari's administration in it's effort to build a progressive and enviable nation that all citizens will be proud of.
