Human right activist, Reno Omokri has dropped a very thoughtful statement on his Facebook page. According to Mr. Reno, poverty is why many people are religious and churchy. When these people relocate abroad and see that their heart desires and prayer requests are easily met in their new location, they lose their religiosity and become mere church goers or even atheists.
For them, religion is a reaction to poverty. Faith is a more reliable judge of godliness. That is why after salvation, Christ taught more about wealth because without wealth your spiritual health is at risk.
Poverty alters your perspective of life and your understanding of situations around you. You make enemies out of innocent people. You blame ancestral curses and village people for your poverty. When in fact your problem is your location which is underfunded and overpopulated. The fear of enemies rather than love for God is what actually drives you to church.
What do you think about Reno Omokri's statement?
