Pastor Oyedepo, the Founder of the Living Faith Church, aka Winners Chapel, has been under some kind of criticisms and disagreement with many Nigerians following a remark he made about the consequences of one not paying his or her tithe.
It is no longer news that Pastor Oyedepo has consistently had the same stance when it comes to the issue of Tithing. From years back to date, Pst. Oyedepo has been lecturing on the need for the children of God, always to pay their tithe, using Bible quotations to show instances of the aftermaths that will befall one that fails to pay his tithe.
Most times, some of his teachings on Tithing do come under severe criticisms from many Nigerians who do disagree with his gospel pedagogy.
Recently, the businessman, Christian author, and an Architect by profession took to his official page on the micro-blogging platform, Twitter, to divulge yet another edition of his teachings on the need to pay tithe, this time around with a more severe warning attached.
Quoting his words he wrote
Tithing is an inescapable covenant obligation. Prosperity not just wealth is impossible without tithing because when you're not paying your tithe, you're under a financial curse.
#Tithe
Several reactions trailed to his post, with many Nigerians being in support. In contrast, others took turns in the comment box to disagree with him, saying that there is no Bible Scripture that ties prosperity and wealth to Tithing under the new priesthood.
Here are some reactions
Well, in my opinion, I love Pastor Oyedepo. Yes, I love his style of teaching the word of God. He's one of the true men of God not just in Nigeria but in the whole world. But, I don't agree with him on this. Let's use our Country Nigeria as an instance, Nigeria is one of the most religious countries; we have "great men and women of God." However, in all these, according to a recent study, We are still extremely poor and not a prosperous Nation.
I am not saying that It's bad to give Tithe. No. Tithing as a Christian is good, but if it were going to make us prosperous, we would have been already. The only solution is for us to look at other nations and invest in what they did.
