As we all serve God on a daily basis, It is important for us to know that our service to Him would only be appreciated if we obey His fundamental rules. These rules are so important that we don't have to oversight them. The Bible made them clearer to us so we have no excuse whatsoever not to obey them.
Those fundamental rules I want to bring to your knowledge are four in numbers. There were established by our Lord Jesus Christ. Below are the four of them.
1. Love your neighbour as yourself.
The book of Mark 12:31 reads; "The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” NIV
The ultimate message surrounding Christianity is love. The rule is very simple; love your neighbours the same way you love yourself. If you love your neighbour as yourself, you won't fight him, betray him, oppress him, steal from him, kill him, etc. If only we can obey this rule, the world would be a better place.
2. Forgive those who wrong you.
The book of Luke 17:3-4 reads; So watch yourselves. “If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents forgive him. If he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times comes back to you and says, ‘I repent,’ forgive him.”
Another fundamental rule we have to obey is forgiveness. We should all learn to forgive those who offend us so that God can also forgive us. No matter how many times a person offends you, forgive him as long as he apologizes.
3. Love your enemies.
Let us read from the book of Matthew 5:44; But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.
This rule is aimed at discouraging violence and vengeance. You know that this man is your enemy wanting to kill you but Instead of fighting him, the rule is asking you to love him and even pray for him. Violence can only become intense when two parties are strongly involved so don't be the second party.
4. Do to people what you want them to do to you.
let us read from Matthew 7:12; Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.
This rule is very simple; whatever you want to do to your neighbour, put yourself in his position; would you like it when someone does that to you? If your answer is yes, go ahead and do it. But if your answer is no, don't do it because what goes around would always come around. If you don't want yours to be spoilt, don't spoil things for others.
Believe me, if these four rules are strictly obeyed by Christians, the world would be a better place. Please share this article if you want Christians to read and follow these rules.
