NMA, Christian Association Disagree On Full Reopening Of Churches In Lagos

The Lagos State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria has praised the judgment of Governor Sanwo-Olu Babajide to completely reopen the churches, announcing that it is the perfect thing to do.

But the Lagos chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association interpreted the judgment to completely open worship centers in Lagos State as a hasty decision.

Apostle Alexander Bamgbola, the Chairman of CAN, said that prayers were accountable for the minimal impacts of the virus in Lagos state.

He said at least 30 million Nigerians were foreseen to perish from the pandemic, but God avoided it.

Bamgbola said, “ I got information from the US that at least 40 million Africans would perish from this infection and 30 million of these people will be Nigerians. But we are serving a living God.

The clergyman said that CAN would implore Churches to maintain all safety standards to avoid the additional spread of the virus.

D.r. Olugbodi Japhet, the Chairman of Lagos NMA Council for COVID-19 Response, announced that Lagos State should have been patient a while before the complete reopening of churches.

He explained, “I believe we should have waited a little while and observe what shows up from the reopening of all airports.

The problem of COVID-19 in Nigeria is very different from what they have in other nations, and since we’ve fully opened the airport, we could have individuals bringing in another virus that is even deadlier than the one already in the country.
