5 Lessons to Learn from the Account of David and Goliath

The Bible account of David and Goliath is almost known to all christians, how David killed Goliath, the Giant of Philistine. But the lessons of David's victory is not too explicit to many Christians

In this article, we want to outline to you some of the important lessons in that account.

1. David is a typology of a true Christian, as prophets say David was a man after God's heart. So every true believer must have the nature of David. His victory over Goliath represents Christian victory over Satan.

2. Goliath of Philistine is a typology of Satan. He constantly withstood the armies of Israel and insulted Israel and their God. So do Satan like a roaring lion is disturbing God's people and seeking who to devour.

3. David's instruments of war are significant.

He rejected the normal millitary attire of the Israeli army which signifies that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal. He took the normal spiritual weapon, a sling and five stones, which represents prayer and the name of Jesus Christ

4. The five stones, David took represents the five letters in the name of J E S U S. The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous runs into it and finds refugee. Proverbs 18:10. At the mention of the name of Jesus, every knee must bow of the things in heaven, on earth and under the earth. Philippians 2:10.

5. A Christian who resist Satan using the name of Jesus must have victory. David's faith that he will defeat Goliath represents Faith, which is the only thing that pleases God. Hebrew 11:6
