Let's Come Together And Pray For Peace, Unity, And Prosperity Of Bekwarra LGA - Lucy Emeka

The wife of the Chairman of Bekwarra Local Government Area of Cross River State, Ambassador Mrs. Lucy Emeka has called on every son and daughter of Bekwarra across the country and in the diaspora to come together and pray to deliver the land and to rebuild Bekwarra.

The first lady made this call on Thursday during a one-day prayer summit which was held at the Bekwarra Council Hall, Abuochiche tagged 'Come let's rebuild the land'.

In her speech, Lucy reiterated her call on the Bekwarra people to pray for peace, unity, and prosperity of the local government.

She noted that such prayers were imperative to promote unity and harmonious coexistence as well as address the nagging social and economic problems bedeviling their communities.

"The program is all about praising and glorifying God in our ways. As a community, we know that things are not going well. There is every need for us to come together and tell that he should forgive us for whatever he has done wrong or not doing right. He should forgive us and rebuild the land."

"That is why we invited everyone to come out, let's build Bekwarra again. I cannot do it alone, neither can the Chairman nor Vice Chairman do it alone. At this point, it is pertinent to cry to God that whatever we have been doing that is not right, He should give us another chance and rebuild our land for us."

She further called on the Cross River State government to come to their aid as the provision of electricity in Bekwarra for over six years has been their major challenge.

"Our pressing need for Bekwarra is the provision of electricity. The community has been suffering from this for a very long time. A child that was born six years ago does not know what electricity is except for the generator. So we appeal to the government to assist us by bringing back electricity to Bekwarra. That would be my greatest joy." She added.

On his side, Evangelist Obiora Mbah who resides in Bekwarra mentioned that things are not going well in the land and as such, there is a need for all and sundry to come out and make the word of God their watchword in the unification of the Bekwarra.

He commended the first lady for her patriotism and selfless service to the unity and progress of Bekwarra, adding that there must be a change in the land.

"There are many abnormalities that need to be corrected and it is only God that can do it. God has given the first lady the vision to involve some of us to come together and pray to God for the restructuring of Bekwarra. I am having the conviction that there must be a massive change, there must be development, there must be blessings like never before in the land."

"As you can see, we have lots of disabilities and cripples, which signifies that things are not right in the land. Development is not coming as it is supposed to. For common bank transactions, you need to go to Ogoja LGA. Things are not going well here in Bekwarra."

"The farms are not yielding, so there is a need to call on God which we have done and we are believing God that there will be a change in the land."

He went further to say that whenever it is the period of the new yam festival, accidents and untimely death will be on the increase.

"When it is close to the new yam festival, you will start hearing cases of accidents, untimely deaths because of the ancestral forces in the land but by His Grace, we are believing God that there will be good news."
