The Lagos State COVID-19 Task force, has been mandated by the State Government to monitor and enforce compliance against public gatherings, though they would be attacked by some Muslim worshipers at the Agege Central Mosque.
This was made known by Dr. Dolapo Fasawe, who is the General Manager, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) and leader of the Task force that Some worshipers at the Agege Central Mosque in Lagos violated the lock down order in the state, and also attacked the state governments coronavirus taskforce.
Speaking on the incident, Dr. Dolapo Fasawe said members of the task force team COVID-19, comprising of Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), Lagos Safety Commission and the Rapid Response Squad, saw the Muslim faithful observing their evening prayer (Solatul Eshai) in a large congregation, contrary to the directive on total lock down to stem the tide of the COVID-19 pandemic in the State.
As the worshipers sighted the task force, they began throwing stones at the team.
