Muslims Who Intends To Slaughter A Sacrificial Animal For Eid Should Not Do These Two Things

Sequel to the announcement of the government of Saudi Arabia, the commencement date for the month of Dhulhijja 1441 is Wednesday 23rd of July, 2020. Certainly, this announcement means Eid ul Ad'ah is Friday 31st of July, 2020.

This month of Dhulhijja is one of the four sacred month in Islamic calendar, they are:

Dhulqadah, Dhulhijja, Muharam and Rajab

The month of Dhulhijja, which is the 12th month in Islamic calendar has a significant role in the lives of Muslims

Prophet Muhammad (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: there is no day in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these days.

This is because a lot of an act of worship is embedded in the first 10days of this month which includes:

The day of Arafah and other integral act of worship that constituted Hajj, fasting on the day of Arafah is an expiation from last year and the upcoming year sins

The day of Eid ul Ad'ah

The day which we glorify the glorious name of Almighty Allah, and we slaughter a sacrificial animal for his sake as an act of worship

This article is purposely to remind those who intends to slaughter a sacrificial animal of what they should stop doing from today.

Today is the last day for every obligated bound muslims who intends to slaughter a sacrificial animal on eid ul ad'ah to do these two things, as from tomorrow Wednesday, 1st of Dhulhijja these set of Muslims should stop doing these two things, which are:

1. Shaving or barbing of hair

It is not expected of a Muslim who intends to slaughter a sacrificial animal to shave his hair, starting from the first day of Dhul-Hijjah, that is he only has the last day of dhulqadah to do that.

2. Clipping of nails

Also, it's not expected of a Muslim who intends to slaughter a sacrificial animal on Eid ul Ad'ah days to clip his nails, from the first day of Dhul-Hijjah.

This is what is recommended by the prophet let's endeavor to adhere to it.

May Allah guide and bless us, and spare our lives beyond this coming Eid ul Ad'ah, may He accept all our efforts as an act of worship( Aameen)
