Pastor Chris Explains How One Can Break Out From Any Relationship Oath

It's very painful how some young persons suffer certain things that they are not expected to be suffering. Some are held back by their words or the promises they made to each other when they were in some relationship. One of the most prevalent amongst others is the issue of oath taking among young Christians (male and female) who are in relationships.

In a programme hosted by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome (DSC, DD), the President of Love World and Christ Embassy Church World wide, a boy asked him a question related to oath taking during a relation and demanded answers on whether it is possible to break out of such oaths.

The boy presented his question as follows; "Dearest pastor, I must say I Iove you because of the way you preach and teach young people in how to leave the Christians life. thank was in this relationship in my early twenties before in gave my life to Christ. I was in love with the lady so much that people around us, both friends and neighbours were aware of our relationship. We loved ourselves so much. During my birthdays, she will buy gifts worth thousands of naira, success and love cards and bring to me in school."

"Not so long, we made a solemn promise with the Bible before ourselves, saying that nothing will separate our relationship. Some of the times, she will demand that we make out. She will convince me by saying that there no bad this there since we'll be husband and wife in the future. I gave in to her demands and we made love to each other. However, after I gave my life to Christ, I told her my intentions and she won't let go, Pastor, how do I get freed from this oath?"

Pastor Chris answered him, "Dear friend, as your pastor I want to put it to you that you're absolutely free fro such oath since you have given your life to Christ. No oath, whatsoever can hold you back".

He quoted Numbers 30:2-8 to back up his explanation: Num.30.2 - If a man vow a vow unto the LORD, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth.

Num.30.3 - If a woman also vow a vow unto the LORD, and bind herself by a bond, being in her father's house in her youth;

Num.30.4 - And her father hear her vow, and her bond wherewith she hath bound her soul, and her father shall hold his peace at her: then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand.

Num.30.5 - But if her father disallow her in the day that he heareth; not any of her vows, or of her bonds wherewith she hath bound her soul, shall stand: and the LORD shall forgive her, because her father disallowed her.

Num.30.6 - And if she had at all an husband, when she vowed, or uttered ought out of her lips, wherewith she bound her soul;

Num.30.7 - And her husband heard it, and held his peace at her in the day that he heard it: then her vows shall stand, and her bonds wherewith she bound her soul shall stand.

Num.30.8 - But if her husband disallowed her on the day that he heard it; then he shall make her vow which she vowed, and that which she uttered with her lips, wherewith she bound her soul, of none effect: and the LORD shall forgive her.

"Therefore, aside from these oaths and the condition's stated there in, no other can hod you back," Pastor Chris concluded.
