When our Lord Jesus Christ gathered His disciples at the side of Mount Olive, before He ascended to heaven, He said told His disciples many things, He said that, he was going to prepare a place for them in His father's house and admonished them to remain steadfast in His work that He handed over to them.
Then, before He finally ascended to heaven, He made a promise of Holy Spirit for His disciples." And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the the promise of the Father, which, saith he, Ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence." (Acts 1: 4, 5). The above Bible verses clearly stated what Jesus Christ did promise his his disciples and those who would believe in the preaching of the disciples.
Acts 1 : 8, " But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you; and ye shall be witness unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." These are direct words from our Lord Jesus Christ to his disciples before He ascended to heaven. It was Holy Spirit that Jesus Christ promised to send to his disciples, not a prophet as some people claimed.
Meanwhile, it was Moses that said a great prophet was coming behind him that the children of Israel should obey. " The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me, unto him ye shall hearken." Moses was referring to our Lord Jesus Christ, this was also confirmed in Acts 3 :22; 7: 37.
One can deduce from the above write up that Jesus Christ had come and perfected the work of salvation for mankinds, once and for all, on the cross of calvary. Mind you, the grace of salvation is available to all men today, through the sacrifice Jesus Christ made us at the calvary. He was buried and resurrected from death on the third day. After His resurrection, he appeared to many, especially, his disciples, and before he ascended to heaven, He said He would tell God to send Holy Spirit to His disciples and those who will be saved by their preachings. This promise He fulfilled on the Day of Pentecost, where 120 saved and sanctified souls received the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
Conclusion, Jesus Christ didn't say a prophet would come after Him, but promised to send down Holy Ghost, which he did on the Day of Pentecost as I have earlier said.
Please and please, if you have not given your life to Jesus Christ, the Saviour and Messiah of the world, kindly do that today because tomorrow may be too late.
May God Almighty bless you, in the name of Jesus Christ.
